Most likely my last day. Been an awful spring but today was pretty awesome. Down to just Superstar unless you're fine with walking.

Seventieth day today was a memorable one. Bagged out Friday due to rain, was awoken by the sound of sleet on the skylight around 6:00 today. By the time I checked outside it had changed to snow. Several inches had accumulated when I got to kbl around 8:00. Early runs on ovation were spectacular, not many pictures - only had a few hours and it was so good I didnt want to stop and get the phone out.

Wow best of both worlds. I bought Epic passes for the family in April, fully expecting to boycott the lack of investment in Attitash's triple. Guess I can still ski Wildcat and the kids still get to ski Mt Snow. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Northeast Mountain Sports mobile app

I got my fat ass out for first ride last night in Andover. 5 miles. About a hour. Couple of climbs were tough and stopped. I did not feel to bad after but ass was sore.

Made a call to catch the last week for The new six pack with Fcksummer. Snowdon was showing a lot debris. Peak was still in good shape. Double Dipper was awesome. Best runs were off Superstar chair though. A few woods runs. Fresh snow was sticky in them though.

Well the drive was long. Very long. Was it worth it? yes. Started my drive east of Cleveland at 4:30pm on Friday. Stopped driving at 2am. Slept in the back of the company mini van for 5 hours. In Marquette Mi in a Holiday inn parking lot. Got on the road after a starbucks stop at 7:15.pulled into the ski area at 9:20. Checked into the hostel and got dressed letting the snow soften up. At 10:30 got on the lift. The front was pretty melted out but the North backside had 2 feet of snow. Took 5 runs down through the haunted valley and then hit pirates cove and then one run down through the trees skiers left of the lift. That was scratchy but fun. Had a burger and 2 beers for lunch. Decided to hit the east side. Which parts were “closed” but were better than the front. The east lift was closed but they had a shuttle services from the road. Some runs need it even when that lift is running. Runs were steep in the bears den but were pretty flat through the upper parts of middle earth and outer limits. They get steeper near the bottom but were melted out. Here are the pictures. Sent from my iPhone using Northeast Mountain Sports

Thoroughly enjoyed the season despite breaking a couple of ribs. Loads of good skiing, managed to hit a number of powder days, too. My best memory of 2018 would be in November after returning from flying from across the world, getting up at 5:30 am because I couldn't sleep due to time change, making a solid breakfast, and driving up to Wildcat on a whim for a powder day that I didn't even know had happened or was forecast.

I think you hit it on the head with point #2. I've been noticing that as well. I'm sitting in my office mid-week seeing great conditions and then get that damn rain/thaw/freeze several times right before the weekend when I'm able to get up there. I feel like overall I skied less powder days (even mini powder days of just a quick couple inches overnight) this year compared to other years. Luckily I did get to ski a lot mid-week in December and of course I was able to take advantage of that epic 30" powder weekend in March. Point #2 is what prevents me from rating it higher than "Above average". On the plus side we weren't back to square one in late Feb like we were the prior couple seasons and I was able to ski glades far earlier and more consistently than other years (even after some of the freeze/thaws they still held up surprisingly well). However outside of that one big dump, March and April were somewhat disappointing compared to the past couple seasons (granted we really needed them the past couple seasons to avoid those seasons being a loss). Last year Castlerock made it to April 22 thanks to all the late season snow. This year it was done as of this past weekend even with the deep snow-pack we've had. I think that may also highlight the difference in snowpack between the upper and lower mountain however. Upper mountain still certainly seems deeper than normal meanwhile at the base it seems either close to normal or maybe even slightly below normal. Even this year in the spring it seems we're getting somewhat screwed many weekends either with rain and/or low clouds. Anyone that had a lot of flexibility absolutely could have rated this season as one of the best ever though and I could completely understand that. Some points further north may have also fared even better to allow that rating too (my personal rating is based primarily off the Sugarbush area). If I had to assign a grade, I'd probably put it in the B+ or maybe A- category. Eliminate those multiple late week thaw/freeze events though and it would have been at least an A if not A+.

Above average for me. Probably 2nd best in the past 10 years (coming in behind 2010-2011). Part off that had to do with my light work schedule. That let me take advantage of some of the best days of the season which seemed to be mostly mid-week this year. I know from reading other reports and forums that there were 2 important attributes of this season that impacted whether you got the goods or not: 1) there was a big difference from North to South. Southern areas had a crappy year, while north had above average snowpack all season. 2) mid-week snow followed by weekend rain or cold. If you couldn't get out mid-week you may not have loved the season. I wrote some of these observations on another forum earlier in the season. I'll plagiarize myself: Some of the earliest openings ever for places like Wildcat etc. Got the season off to special start. Powder for Thanksgiving weekend brought some of the biggest opening weekend crowds I can recall. Powder continued till Dec 1st. Hardpack in most places throughout December, but N.VT getting refreshers all month. Despite the lack of snow, the base held up pretty well throughout December. So when the powder days started right back up at the beginning of 2019 everything became accessible very quickly. This continued to be a trend all season. We really kept a lot of snow and just continued to pile up. Tree skiing got difficult because you were up in the untrimmed branches. Sunday of MLK weekend was one of the busiest days I have ever seen at both Cannon and Loon. Pictures from around the internet showed absolutely insane lift lines at most New England ski areas. The timing of the well-forecasted storm on Sunday meant that it was easy for people to plan to come up for the weekend. Mid through late January was excellent. Several big storms on Wednesdays. Wednesday 1/9 was incredible with >14" at most areas. Wednesday 1/30 was one of the best powder days in memory across all of Northern New England. Feb wasn't amazing but there were some decent days. March 23rd was 20"-30" across Northern NH, VT, and ME. Absolutely bonkers powder day. Followed by bluebird Sunday on 3/24. Now we've finally managed to finally get a few spring days. I expect more considering how deep the base is still.

Pretty great season for me, my work schedule coincided with the best condition and storm periods to be home for. All in all, I think I hit 6 powder days starting in October (if you can count high elevation, low angle natural terrain as an actual powder day) with the big Nov 27th Powder Day at SR that skied like the calendar read Feb 27th and several more in January and February. Only hit one weak powder day on our trip to Utah, but for me that seems the norm when we head out west. Still a ton of skiing to go for me, Mammoth next week, then Killington til its gone. Wife wants to head back to CA, either Squaw or Mammoth for some July 4th turns since both say they will be open through to then at least so we can say we skied it then! Love her!

It's going to take a lot of money to bring up Peak Resorts properties to the Vail Experience. Lodge renovations all around. I'd have to assume a new Attitash Summit Triple.

We started house renovations when we got back from Stowe, so I've only been out once since then Good news is I went from this $h!t: To this: All the major work should be done tomorrow, so hopefully back to riding this weekend. And I did get to see Phish last weekend!

Finally got up to Kingdom Trails for the first time of the season on Saturday. The weather was about as perfect as it gets: 55-65 degrees, light breeze, no humidity, not a cloud in the sky. The trails were almost as perfect. They still have a couple of trails closed for wet conditions (only about 5%) which is pretty impressive considering the winter and spring they had. It's a good testament to how well managed the place is that they keep people off trails rather than letting them get trashed. We typically ride KT on Sunday mornings, so being there midday on Saturday was a different world in terms of crowds. Tons of people in the parking lots and in town. But we never felt crowded on the trails. We did about 14 miles with a lot of climbing and felt great! We were pretty worked over the next morning, but really couldn't get enough. So we headed back over for a shorter ride on Sunday morning. Also have been wanting to check out some of the more northerly trail sections. Trails like Coronary and Coronary Bypass are more of the same great flowy, bermed single track descents and nice switchbacky climbs Did another ride on my local trails Monday morning. I was really missing all of that expert trail building and maintenance!

Havasu Creek. About a 4 hour hike and total to Lower Beaver Falls which is not pictured. This was the beginning of the hike, the crystal blue water only exists in this Creek and in the Little Colorado River (LCR). The Colorado River was green and clean the whole time!

Took some time to head up Monadnock this past weekend. Never been, but thats one heck of a tough hike! Looking forwards to more of them in the future. It was a very strong, incredibly summit!! Saw a cool tree, too. Also sherpa'd up obligatory beers.

Nice! I have to get back there. Last time I was there was April 30, 2010. It was a freak 2 foot snowstorm at Cannon the night before. We skinned up in the blazing sun, drank a few beers, took a slushy run down, drank some more beers, then headed over to Franklin. We didn't have much left in the tank by then so I can't say I experienced the place. I'm looking forward to getting in there this season for some legit riding.

Will be tough, but I'm in already for the K Triathlon Saturday (assuming they don't postpone it due to too wet trails for MTN biking) and SR on Sunday (have to do so e stuff at condo and I was a complainer when they were going to chop that weekend. Feel I have to show up regardless of wx now). Will suck after 4 unreal spring days at Mammoth this week.

We have a place in Lisbon, which is a 2 1/4 hour drive from home on Friday night. Then we drive about an hour from there to Wildcat on Saturday. And since we don't have Peak passes, it's $156 for our family of 5 to ski (little one is still free). I'm leaning toward no, as we have stuff we could (and probably should) do at home, but I really want 1 more day of skiing!

That entire article was douche level 12!! But this one was especially clueless. There is freaking dirt everywhere in snow! And I have never gone through a season without at least 2 major grease-from-lift-tower incidents.

Adventurema, I would never mind anyone joining my group. If your 2 and Ski-Kiki join buy passes, then we're 1 away from the next incentive which I will try to sell and I'll split the proceeds with the new members. Update, just got an email from my ex-neighbor. Sounds like he's going to get a pass, so that will get us above the next incentive. Sorry to all that this has turned into 'Cennedy' GPS club thread! Can't wait to ski Wawa on Saturday!
