Most likely my last day. Been an awful spring but today was pretty awesome. Down to just Superstar unless you're fine with walking.

Seventieth day today was a memorable one. Bagged out Friday due to rain, was awoken by the sound of sleet on the skylight around 6:00 today. By the time I checked outside it had changed to snow. Several inches had accumulated when I got to kbl around 8:00. Early runs on ovation were spectacular, not many pictures - only had a few hours and it was so good I didnt want to stop and get the phone out.

Wow best of both worlds. I bought Epic passes for the family in April, fully expecting to boycott the lack of investment in Attitash's triple. Guess I can still ski Wildcat and the kids still get to ski Mt Snow. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Northeast Mountain Sports mobile app

I got my fat ass out for first ride last night in Andover. 5 miles. About a hour. Couple of climbs were tough and stopped. I did not feel to bad after but ass was sore.

It's going to take a lot of money to bring up Peak Resorts properties to the Vail Experience. Lodge renovations all around. I'd have to assume a new Attitash Summit Triple.

We started house renovations when we got back from Stowe, so I've only been out once since then Good news is I went from this $h!t: To this: All the major work should be done tomorrow, so hopefully back to riding this weekend. And I did get to see Phish last weekend!

I was on shutdwon last week too. I only got 21 miles in with company in town though. I have 15 miles so far this week after work. I hope for another 7-8 tonight.

I need to retire. With the holiday break I was able to ride 7 out of 10 days. 3 states, 6 different trail systems, 65 miles. Now it's back to the grind and I'll be lucky to get out at all in the next 2 weeks.

Had to do some fishing for work last week. We were targeting little white perch (~6"). Instead we landed a couple of monsters! First time I've even been fishing and caught something ~600x bigger than I hoped.

Finally got up to Kingdom Trails for the first time of the season on Saturday. The weather was about as perfect as it gets: 55-65 degrees, light breeze, no humidity, not a cloud in the sky. The trails were almost as perfect. They still have a couple of trails closed for wet conditions (only about 5%) which is pretty impressive considering the winter and spring they had. It's a good testament to how well managed the place is that they keep people off trails rather than letting them get trashed. We typically ride KT on Sunday mornings, so being there midday on Saturday was a different world in terms of crowds. Tons of people in the parking lots and in town. But we never felt crowded on the trails. We did about 14 miles with a lot of climbing and felt great! We were pretty worked over the next morning, but really couldn't get enough. So we headed back over for a shorter ride on Sunday morning. Also have been wanting to check out some of the more northerly trail sections. Trails like Coronary and Coronary Bypass are more of the same great flowy, bermed single track descents and nice switchbacky climbs Did another ride on my local trails Monday morning. I was really missing all of that expert trail building and maintenance!

Havasu Creek. About a 4 hour hike and total to Lower Beaver Falls which is not pictured. This was the beginning of the hike, the crystal blue water only exists in this Creek and in the Little Colorado River (LCR). The Colorado River was green and clean the whole time!

That's awesome! You know, I just had the most unbelievable experience inside of that canyon and you don't really notice it until you leave. People were asking me, "so what are you going to take away from this trip?" And I told them I wasn't sure. I didn't know yet or even if I was going to take anything out of it. But now that I'm back, it just amplifies everything it amplifies. the fact that I'm settling in life it amplifies the fact that I need to find more nature in my area honestly it really amplifies the fact that I have to I'm miserable, I need to get out of here, and move back out west! Anywhere but cali! I just need to get out of this area! But in the meantime, if I could find local places that I already don't know about would be wonderful. I'm glad you had such a wonderful time it's truly a magical place indescribable and indefinable. Weather was beautiful the whole time we were there did not go below 55 the entire time at night and didn't go above 85. It was absolutely perfect. we had one major storm but it came through pretty quickly and just left. I was hoping for a bigger storm while we were on the water so I could see all of the waterfalls coming off of the walls. A few people on my trip were telling me about that. I will post some pictures. I know I said I'm miserable, but at the same time I know I am one of the luckiest people in the world for not knowing a thing about rafting or what the lottery was about and being able to score a permit for the best time of year. So I don't mean to sound ungrateful!

Took some time to head up Monadnock this past weekend. Never been, but thats one heck of a tough hike! Looking forwards to more of them in the future. It was a very strong, incredibly summit!! Saw a cool tree, too. Also sherpa'd up obligatory beers.

I've got a 2016 Stumpjumper FSR Comp. I bought it new in late 2015. I've got about 950 total miles on it sofar. (I keep a spreadsheet of all my rides.) 1. The rebound damping on the rear shock is dead, for the 2nd time. By "dead" I mean zero rebound damping. Suspension bounces like a pogo unless I set the compression damping to "stiff". The first time it broke was at ~650 miles. It broke right at the end of a day of DH at Highland so I decided it was partially my fault (beating on the bike a bit too much). I got the shock repaired in late 2017. It worked fine through last season but then on my first ride this season the rebound damping died again, this time after only ~300 miles. I'm going to ask the company that did the repair if they'll warranty their work, since the shock was supposed to have been fixed, and 300 miles is waaaay too soon for it to die again. I suspect they'll decline but it's worth asking anyway. But assuming they wont repair it again for free, what do people think I should do with the shock. Pay to fix it again (probably another $150) or buy a new shock? The fact that it died the first time after only 650 miles makes me wonder if it was defective from the start, but there's no way to prove that at this point. 2. Second question. Last fall I had the main drivetrain parts replaced (chainring, cassette and chain but not derailleur) because the gears were badly worn. (Interestingly the shifting was great, but my LBS was convinced things would gt bad really soon. So I replaced the parts...) I had been running a ghetto 1x setup for most of the bike's life, which means I replaced the original front shifting (2x system) parts with a single 28T oval ring but kept the original cassette (SRAM PG 1030 11-36, 10 speed). The new parts are similar but not identical: Shimano SLX HG81 11-36, 10 spd cassette and I went down to a 26T ring on the front because I thought I was over-using the 28,32,36 cogs on the cassette with the 28T. Now with the new parts, the shifting is worse. With the old parts, shifting was always smooth and quiet, even mashing shifts mid-climb. With the new parts, shifting is ok when there's no load but shifts under load are always noisy (crunchy) and often it feels like the cranks will free spin for a quarter to half turn in between gears before catching. Ive taken it back twice for adjustments and the shop claims it's as good as they can get it, but they can't explain why that shifting behavior could occur. Any ideas here? The Shimano cassette is supposed to be comparable grade to the SRAM 1030 so I dont see how that could be the problem. (Though I am somewhat tempted to slap a new SRAM cassette on there to compare since the chain and front ring are still essentially new.) But I'm Stumped (sorry!) here. What do ppl think?

Belfast was nice. Good advice their. Yesterday when we walked around the town they were having a Ukulele festival, which was strange but funny. The area is beautiful, but I don’t think I will be back being so far from me.

I was there today as well. The ice on the headwall didn't actually "soften up" but there were piles to turn on. I got there around 8:45 skied until 1. All was bumped up but there was not actual ice but what looked like ice but you could turn on it.

Perfect day today, was in line for first chair, got in a dozen runs before responsibility called The reservoir took a hit last week but June lift served is almost a certainty in the east I will be there at least one day per weekend as long as the lift spins, always up for a beer if anyone else makes it Pictures from #74

Nice! I have to get back there. Last time I was there was April 30, 2010. It was a freak 2 foot snowstorm at Cannon the night before. We skinned up in the blazing sun, drank a few beers, took a slushy run down, drank some more beers, then headed over to Franklin. We didn't have much left in the tank by then so I can't say I experienced the place. I'm looking forward to getting in there this season for some legit riding.

Yes, I was the one who suggested that cover. I have one and love it. Indeed not cheap, but worth it.

Will be tough, but I'm in already for the K Triathlon Saturday (assuming they don't postpone it due to too wet trails for MTN biking) and SR on Sunday (have to do so e stuff at condo and I was a complainer when they were going to chop that weekend. Feel I have to show up regardless of wx now). Will suck after 4 unreal spring days at Mammoth this week.

We have a place in Lisbon, which is a 2 1/4 hour drive from home on Friday night. Then we drive about an hour from there to Wildcat on Saturday. And since we don't have Peak passes, it's $156 for our family of 5 to ski (little one is still free). I'm leaning toward no, as we have stuff we could (and probably should) do at home, but I really want 1 more day of skiing!

But it's going to be raining and windy...are they really going to open/run? And even if they do, do I want to go?

That entire article was douche level 12!! But this one was especially clueless. There is freaking dirt everywhere in snow! And I have never gone through a season without at least 2 major grease-from-lift-tower incidents.
