  1. Read the article and the comments following, this last one was hilarious. "If they banned every asshole from the ski resorts, they'd go out of business on the first day, the trees would grow back and we'd lose our New Jersey accents."
  2. Get there early and there will be a line for the first lift and then skiing will be good for at least an hour and a half or two. After that it could go either way, but since it's supposed to be extremely cold Friday morning I would think it would be less crowded than it could be. Afternoon I don't know as I leave before then, but I'd assume it will be busy. It wasn't overly crowded this weekend, but I was surprised at all the families with kids, even lessons going on. The sport is thriving.
  3. The only way to get to Piece of Cake or the new trail is on a weekend or to ski through the woods from the Mass Pike. They don't run that lift weekdays. Maybe weekday evenings. On a powder day skiing through those woods and under that lift is a great line. Of course you aren't supposed to ski any woods at Wa, but it's just a very short cut through.
  4. Skied yesterday and today, very good conditions. They just announced that they are opening Mon-Wed after all. 10-8
  5. 8" of heavy snow fell here (15 mins from the mountain) should make a great base for them. See you Monday 🤞
  6. I think it's a great use of this thread, what's more of a get together than a ski club? I'll be there Saturday and Sunday first chair. Really hoping they stay open next Mon-Wed, but I doubt it. May go up to Mount Snow Monday and Wednesday. Season's about to begin!
  7. Last year they opened on Sunday 11/12, one week earlier.
  8. Yup and the GPS deadline to buy is later than the non-GPS deadline. Ya just gotta listen to SMJ! This rain will probably erase all of that snow they made, but there is 3-5" of natural forecast for Thursday night, so hopefully a Saturday opening.
  9. Thanks MassNerd, I joined your group and really appreciate you sharing the coordinator perks with us, made my pass even cheaper. Good man, you didn't need to do that!
  10. I don't know. I may go there once or twice. Living 15 minutes away makes getting there a real chore.
  11. From Brittanica. The Nazi concentration camps were the worst of the worst - no doubt, but are only a type of concentration camp, not a definition of one. Concentration camp, internment centre for political prisoners and members of national or minority groups who are confined for reasons of state security, exploitation, or punishment, usually by executive decree or military order. Persons are placed in such camps often on the basis of identification with a particular ethnic or political group rather than as individuals and without benefit either of indictment or fair trial. Concentration camps are to be distinguished from prisons interning persons lawfully convicted of civil crimes and from prisoner-of-war camps in which captured military personnel are held under the laws of war. They are also to be distinguished from refugee camps or detention and relocation centres for the temporary accommodation of large numbers of displaced persons.
  12. The first line of the Wikipedia page. Manzanar is most widely known as the site of one of ten American concentration camps where over 110,000 Japanese Americans were interned during World War II from December 1942 to 1945.
  13. Personal comments like that prove my point.
  14. By the way SallyCat, you don't have to be a woman to find some of the posters here to be nasty.
  15. 92 days, 1.2 million vertical feet. Would have finally hit 100 this year, but missed 3 ½ weeks due to an injury. It was a great season. 52 Wachusett 25 Berkshire East 5 Vail 5 Killington 4 Mount Snow 1 Copper Mountain
  16. Correction, they're saying Sat, Sun, Mon April 14th-16th.
  17. Stated schedule is the rest of this week through to Sunday. Next week and the week after are Fri, Sat, Sun. only. So the 6,7,8th and 13,14,15th. All subject to change of course. Skied from 9-1:30 today and it was amazingly good. Mid winter perfect packed powder until about 10:30 than a slow transition to beautiful carveable soft snow.
  18. In the past few years I see numerous weekdays of skiing at the Wa in April in my log. My thinking is they'll stay open as many weekdays as the weather allows the first week of April and then maybe 3 or 4 days a week the 2nd week of April.
  19. After 3 ½ weeks off I tested the calf this morning and had a great time at Wachusett. Skied 20 runs. I'm back! Great conditions.
  20. Website this morning shows hours 9am-10pm. I'd call to confirm if I were you though.
  21. So glad you're extending your season. I am dreaming of maybe being there the last week of the month or the first week of April - if my calf heals enough by then.
  22. I wish I could go. My season was ended abruptly 2 weeks ago in Colorado. Tore my Calf muscle. Not too bad, no surgery needed, but can't ski. Very frustrating with all this snow, but I had a great season. 78 times on snow before this happened.
  23. Great to meet you today. Will be back tomorrow and will try not to say inappropriate things to your teen.
  24. A reason for him to do it? How about the fact that he was paid a lot of money to do it? It's a commercial. You think he doesn't need money? Makes enough from his YouTube videos?
  25. Have a nice time feeling insulted by the way. I'll find a place to have civil conversation elsewhere.
