  1. Awesome! Glad you’re hitting the heart of the season out there. I’m heading to utah at the end of the month. Any advice on how to attack snowbird? Or any other cottonwood advice? Sent from my iPhone using Northeast Mountain Sports
  2. I remember my first and only trip to ascutney. One of those free Jeep days they used to do. It was top to bottom boilerplate. More grey and brown than white on the hill. I’ll add to the listed Camden Snow Bowl - the rocks poking through definitely compliment the rocky Maine coastal charm. Sent from my iPhone using Northeast Mountain Sports
  3. Maybe we could have people write like 50-100 words on why a specific place is their favorite/best and then use likes or something to rank them. Snowpaks editor writes an intro and orders em. Bingo bango => clicks Sent from my iPhone using Northeast Mountain Sports
  4. Doing B-dubs tomorrow Sent from my iPhone using Northeast Mountain Sports
  5. On the way up to stowe. Whaleback 830 on a Friday night. The lights are on but nobody's home. Sent from my iPhone using Northeast Mountain Sports mobile app
  6. Very sad but what a life well-lived. "If you're gonna go...do it this year because if you wait til next year you'll be a year older when you do."
  7. I was up at Killington Monday. They were in pretty good shape. They must have also benefited from a few inches on the tail of the storm and the conditions seemed just cold and dry enough to make very nice feeling snow. More like packed powder than the thick sugar stuff. I didn't venture into the woods didn't seem worth it but they have a base left there and another 8-12" of natural will get some of it back in play. Groomers were nice - got a few in on Superstar and a really nice one Great Northern-Highline (the latter of which I don't think I'd ever been down - maybe closed for racing a lot) which still had cord past noon. Upper ovation was pure dust on crust no fun but they made some huge whales on the already steep as crap Lower O which you could surprisingly dig into. Outer Limits was in similar shape but the whales were already beaten down. All in all it was good especially with it empty - longest line of the day was 5 mins midday for K-1. Below was Skyeship lot at 830 and it never filled up Sent from my iPhone using Northeast Mountain Sports mobile app
  8. I stayed at the Hotel Vienna for a night a few years back. It was certainly reasonable. They have an indoor pool which I did not use since it's across their parking lot from the hotel. They did have a nice little room with a fireplace to have drink in the evening and coffee and breakfast in he morning and its very close to the mountain.
  9. Ski the sea! Had a great day at Camden Snow Bowl. The cold was manageable and the mountain hid well from the artic wind today. The mountain skis much bigger than its 850 ft vert and the view is spectacular (photo doesn't do it justice). Got on the hill around 1030 and the sun was even out a little. Conditions were a bit windpacked and I appreciate they left pretty much everything open even with some branches poking through. It's gnarly New England skiing on the craggy Maine coast. Favorite trail was Lookout on the skier right which has the best view (oh yeah duh) but it opens and closes with trees and teases the drop down out of bounds - a Nordic trail collects down there but didn't venture down. There was plenty to do inbounds and the series of glades starting with Top Sail had off and on breakable crust which was fun challenge. The Lift line trail was fun too and some youngsters were hucking ice crusted rocks at top and a cat track grooming out a narrow line of soft packed pow at the bottom. The old A frame lodge is super cool but space seems misused and the fire place that's filled in would definitely make it cozier. Food service is on point. They have everything and it's cheap and delicious and homemade tasting. Cons - No beer in the lodge! The triple was pretty slow. Otherwise I definitely recommend and will absolutely make a point to return. It seems like the kind of place that gets better the better you know it. Also they gave me a preseason price $33 because sorry it was cold I guess? Thanks Camden! Sent from my iPhone using Northeast Mountain Sports mobile app
  10. Talk about nightmare fuel! Any idea where that is?
  11. I'm heading up to Camden Snow Bowl tomorrow. Been on my list of places to go for a while and was waiting for a nor'easter type coastal storm. Maybe it'll be a bit warmer on the coast and I'm excited to check out some of their glades/sidecountry.
  12. I got some used demo skis this year off Powder7.com. They're a real shop out of Colorado
  13. Just Killington tomorrow. Hoping the cold deters some of the crowds and I can get a bunch in off K-1 early.
  14. I bought sight unseen because you seem like a trustworthy person. For me was $23 and a couple button clicks but seems like a trip to Killington and maybe a Sunday at Jay will make it worth it. Here's the details Sent from my iPhone using Northeast Mountain Sports mobile app
  15. Nitro Vanilla Porter from Breckinridge Brewery. Been in the back of my fridge for a while since I'm not a huge fan of porters and stouts but figured pairing with peppermint bark and Christmas cookies was a pretty good opportunity to enjoy. Merry Christmas skiers and riders Sent from my iPhone using Northeast Mountain Sports mobile app
