The Social Distancing Snow Porn Thread

Recommended Posts

We're collectively going to be losing our minds staying home for weeks on end so let's get some snow flicks & pics going to take our mind off all this craziness

I'll start with Travis Rice's newest flick. It's a short but action packed trip to some crazy Alaska spines. Free right now on Prime.

I went snowshoeing today with my wife in Big Cottonwood Canyon near Solitude ski area.  Got to practice some social distancing and be around snow for a while.

I could handle some social distancing like that !! Beautiful scenery !

THEN this morning we were woken at 710AM by a 5.7 earthquake here in SLC.  It caused no damage to the neighborhood, but was a darn good 10 second shake and rumble with numerous smaller aftershocks.  I was in Charlottesville, VA for the earthquake in 2011 and this was pretty similar.  Checking further reports there was some minor damage to buildings in downtown SLC including the famous Mormon Temple where the Angel Moroni statue lost its trumpet.  That news gave us a chuckle and we’re not sure what kind of SIGN that is, but we don’t need quakes on top of the virus.

Edit:  Moroni blowing his trumpet symbolizes the angel proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world and calling people to repentance.

This one is iconic for me.  It looks a little dated now, but in context it's amazing.  It came out in 2010.  GoPro was just hitting the scene. The hired Abe Kizlevitz from USC ski team as one of their first promoters (he still puts our content for GoPro).  This edit showed what GoPro was capable of and completely changed the world.  Watch it in that context!  I knoe @fcksummerwill appreciate that!  ( also I love this song)

Haven't seen this before. 👌Good stuff. Doesn't seem too dated actually. A lot of videos try to mimic this look even in this day and age.

True. You'd find his YT channel interesting. Lots of hands-on filming and editing tutorials. Of course he has virtually unlimited tool and resources at his disposal so....

Nice!!   I feel like if rode at Cannon more he would have handled the segment at ~5:40 better.    At 7:15 he finally employs the Cannon method.

He clearly wouldn't do well on the Links. We see this type of fall on a daily basis. Not sure why it's a segment in a big snowboarder flick but I enjoyed the rest of it.

Reminds me of that old proverb:   Take what the mountain  gives you!

Fast forward a few years and he's mastered the Cannon method

Every line in this clip is out of this world!!  4:00 are you kidding me!?!?

It's pretty amazing how dominant the French are at big mountain skiing and riding.  Between Xavier and Candid they are untouchable.
