SkiMangoJazz 36
8" of heavy snow fell here (15 mins from the mountain) should make a great base for them. See you Monday

SkiMangoJazz 36
Skied yesterday and today, very good conditions. They just announced that they are opening Mon-Wed after all. 10-8
Ski-kiki 16
I noticed some discrepancies between the trail map and the trail descriptions yesterday, so asked Wawa about it. (They have Piece of Cake as a green, and a new green run listed.) They replied that they are still fine tuning the new website. The park will be on Frannie's Folly and Hitchcock this year, with Piece of Cake being a regular blue run. The newly named run, Shenanigans, follows the lift line under the Vickery Triple and is also blue.
SkiMangoJazz 36
The only way to get to Piece of Cake or the new trail is on a weekend or to ski through the woods from the Mass Pike. They don't run that lift weekdays. Maybe weekday evenings. On a powder day skiing through those woods and under that lift is a great line. Of course you aren't supposed to ski any woods at Wa, but it's just a very short cut through. Edited November 18, 2018 by SkiMangoJazz
Ski-kiki 16
Any guesses/ previous experience with how busy it will be on Black Friday for skiing?
SkiMangoJazz 36
Get there early and there will be a line for the first lift and then skiing will be good for at least an hour and a half or two. After that it could go either way, but since it's supposed to be extremely cold Friday morning I would think it would be less crowded than it could be. Afternoon I don't know as I leave before then, but I'd assume it will be busy. It wasn't overly crowded this weekend, but I was surprised at all the families with kids, even lessons going on. The sport is thriving.
kdaffy 55
Great afternoon today at the wa with the family. Good base And they were making a ton across the mountain. Going to head up with my son tomorrow morning likely. If the weather continues to cooperate they should be close to 100% in a week or so
kdaffy 55
The wa skied great this morning! Arrived around 9 and left at noon, just as it was starting to get busy. Ski to lift all morning. Ralph's and conifer were the picks of the day. Buttery packed pow across the mountain. My son was ripping it up!
MassNerd 48
Can anyone remember when Wachusett starts staying open until 10pm? I thought they were usually on that schedule by now. I do most of my skiing between 8-10pm! Edited December 17, 2018 by MassNerd
Weatherman 523
Ping. Great question. I too am surprised they're not open late yet. Crotched is already open until 9pm. If the forecast stays wet for the coming weekend then I may be looking at local ski options.
MassNerd 48
I asked on their Facebook page. They will stay open til 10pm starting this Friday.
kdaffy 55
Was up there on Sat and can confirm 10p starting Fri. 12/21. Mountain, despite the weather, was in pretty great shape. Spring like conditions with soft snow edge to edge. Was with my 3yo on the beginner slope so didn't venture out to much, but did hit conifer and it was great. They've taken advantage of the snowmaking windows and have huge whales available to touch up the open trails should the weather continue to be uncooperative. I'll probably be out there next weekend as well before the holiday madness starts. Starting in 2019 I'll be out there one night a week (likely thursdays) until the mountain closes, and probably sunday afternoons as well.

SkiingInABlueDream 16
Shhhhhh! [emoji4] Ha! I agree that Wawa in the last couple hours of the day especially a weekday is a great place to get some quick laps, but I'm not exactly worried about that "secret" getting out! kdaffy 55
Went Thurs night and Sun morning. Mountain is 100% and skiing great. Solid base, great soft snow, can't really ask for more from the Wa.
MassNerd 48
Skied this evening. Soft but fast snow. Some patches of the SOLID ICE BASE showing through but overall good conditions. Hopefully they'll make snow once the temps drop Friday night.
hrstrat57 27
Was going to head up tomorrow (90mile drive for me) and just heard Worcester Public schools got called...... See you Thursday instead
kdaffy 55
Well wachusett had a last hurrah yesterday...can't say the snow was very good (basically skiing on a block of ice) but made it out with my son for the final turns of the season. Fun nevertheless! Good turnout all things considered, probably a hundred or so people showed up! Great season at the wa overall. Look forward to next season.
kdaffy 55
Like skiing on a glacier...corn it was not
hrstrat57 27
Sadly this thread got no traction in 18/19. I kinda forgot about it too. We’ll try better next year. Slim pickings for me anyway this season 14 days. Almost all good days tho many turns with the usual Wa friendly crew. Time for golf and tennis and paddling around local RI surf spots soon. Y’all have a great off season!
hrstrat57 27
Time to give this thread the ol bumperoo! I got my Wa pass and I got new skis. Stoked for lotta 2019/2020 Wa! Anybody else in? How bout we try and update this thread better this year?
Ski-kiki 16
Will most likely wait until the ski expo for my pass. Still debating between Bronze and Silver. What skis you get?

I'll let the captain reach out to you he has posted regularly in this thread. I went bronze as I'm in S RI and twice a week is best I can likely do. I avoid Wa on weekends anyway. New skis are Volkl Deacon Pro 74 w race plates, should be solid choice for the Wa groomers. Might be a step down from my pair of Racetiger WC skis but that's OK. Hoping the snow flies soon. MassNerd 48
I send Kiki a message about the GPS club. If anyone else wants in, I sell the coordinator perks and return the money to the club members. It usually amounts to $15-20 back. Looks like possible first snow Thursday night! The season is almost here.
